HEAD OF INITIAL PURCHASING (f/m)

Job description
• Responsible for developing purchasing strategy
• Participation in the Product Creation Process being responsible for supplier selection / sourcing decisions
• Work with Development and Process engineering on cost reduction by sourcing alternative, proposing design changes
• Process Owner for releasing new materials / alternative sources
• Negotiating contracts (delivery terms, prices etc.) with suppliers
• Scouting for new potential suppliers / alternative sources in Far East and in Eastern Europe.
• Communicate forecasts about volumes / qty’s to the suppliers
• Ensure capacities at the suppliers are meeting the demands
Supplier Development (Quality, on time deliveries, price per performance, …) together with the Supplier Quality Engineers
• Managing the supplier evaluation process
• Crisis Management, in case of problems with suppliers
• Coordinating purchasing activities worldwide for the different factories in Brazil, China and Hungary, e.g. Controlling of Purchasing processes worldwide, Regular reporting of PU-success to division management, Preparation of PU-Budget for the division in close coordination with controlling departments worldwide
• Direct responsibility for a small team of buyers
• Extensive travelling, around 20 – 30% of the time

Skill requirements
• higher education (strong technical and commercial background)
• Minimum of 3 years experience as an initial buyer in a company with mass manufacturing (background from an automotive company is an advantage)
• Good command in English is essential, German is of advantage (Hungarian language skills are beneficial but not a must)
• strong negotiation and communication skills
